Vision
The Center for Leadership & Civic Engagement will be a premiere organization that educates and empowers each student at the University of South Florida to become catalysts for positive social change.
Mission
The Center for Leadership & Civic Engagement provides intentional learning opportunities in order to develop effective, ethical leaders who serve as engaged citizens for the global community.
Values
LEARNING
Every CLCE program will be designed to enhance students’ knowledge, understanding and ability to lead and serve. Utilizing dynamic methods of experiential learning and reflection, the CLCE will build students’ capacity in such areas as ethical leadership, communication, social justice, team-building, active citizenship, project development, and conflict resolution.
EMPOWERMENT
All CLCE programs will empower students to identify their passions, talents and strengths, and to actively apply their leadership skills in order to create positive social change. Opportunities will be created for students to take initiative and to ignite their own personal transformation.
INNOVATION
The CLCE will employ a cutting edge approach to its work. Staff will stay current on trends and best practices in the field and will foster a culture of creativity in the Center where improvement and progress are stimulated and recognized. Students will also be encouraged to dream, create, challenge and think dynamically through all their endeavors.
DIVERSITY
The CLCE works to provide an open and inclusive environment which celebrates the diverse perspectives and experiences of our students, as well as the community. By sharing and understanding our differences and commonalities, we can dissolve barriers that exist, help prepare ourselves to effectively lead and serve in a global society, and work collaboratively with others. Global perspectives on leadership and civic engagement will be explored in order to best prepare USF students to utilize their knowledge and skills in all our communities.
COMMUNITY
The CLCE will create an inclusive environment that is genuinely accessible, welcoming and relevant to all members of the community. The Center will also cultivate a caring, fun, supportive and yet challenging atmosphere for student learning, and a collaborative atmosphere for engagement with campus and community partners.

- Learn concepts and skills that will help you achieve greater success in every area of your life: interpersonal communication, goal-setting, conflict resolution, team-building, time management, ethics, critical thinking, project planning, and cutting edge leadership practices
- Become more aware of issues that require your leadership and service: i.e. social justice, professional ethics, environment challenges, politics, education, healthcare, international relations, etc.
- Learn and practice effective strategies for creating positive change in your communities: Service, philanthropy, intergroup dialogue, peer education, organizational leadership
- Receive recognition for your accomplishments in leadership and civic engagement: Certified Student Leader Distinction, Service Awards, Golden Bull Awards, Leadership Awards
